Public land needs people

Across Oregon and the West, trail systems are under real pressure. Land managers are stretched thin. Funding has been cut or delayed. Staffing levels are a fraction of what they once were, even as trail use continues to grow.

The result is predictable: trails fall behind, access becomes fragile, and everyone feels the strain. Riders, hikers, families, volunteers, and the agencies tasked with managing public land all feel it.

1H Foundation exists to help close that gap.

What We Do

1H Foundation supports trail stewardship through action, not just intention.

We work alongside land managers, agencies, and partner organizations to:

  • Deploy trained crews for maintenance and restoration

  • Support emergency and time-sensitive trail work

  • Combine volunteer effort with professional execution

  • Help ensure public funds already allocated for trail work are actually put to use

Our goal is simple: keep trails open, safe, and sustainable for the long term.

Why One Hour

Trail systems don’t fail all at once. They fail slowly.
A culvert that never gets cleared. A section that stays whooped out. A maintenance project that gets pushed to next season. And then the next.

One hour matters because it adds up.

One hour of trail work.
One hour of equipment operation.
One hour of planning, organizing, or funding the work that keeps trails open and usable.

1H is built on the idea that if enough people give just one hour, consistently, we can make real, measurable progress on the ground.

Who We Are

We are riders. Volunteers. Builders. Parents. Racers. Trail users who believe access comes with responsibility.

1H was formed by people already deeply involved in Oregon’s off-road and public land communities. We understand the systems, the constraints, and the realities on the ground because we live in them.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, doing the work, and building something that lasts.

Stewardship is a Shared Responsibility

Public land belongs to all of us. Maintaining it requires participation, cooperation, and a willingness to step in when systems are strained.

Whether you give one hour or many, your contribution matters.

Get Involved

  • Volunteer on a trail work day

  • Support crew deployment and equipment needs

  • Partner with us on projects and programs

  • Help amplify the work happening on the ground

However you show up, you’re part of the solution.
