One hour today. Better trails tomorrow.

Real support for trails when staffing and funding fall short.

1H Foundation exists to support trail stewardship when systems are stretched thin. We activate volunteers, partner with land managers, and keep critical trail work moving forward.

The trails we love are under pressure.

Across Oregon and the West, trail systems are facing real challenges. Staffing levels are down. Funding is complex and often delayed. Use is higher than ever.

Trails don’t maintain themselves — and when work doesn’t happen in time, access, safety, and long-term sustainability are at risk.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about reality.

Whether it’s a washed-out tread, tangled roots, or delayed maintenance, trails can degrade faster than agencies can address them.

Small effort. Real impact.

1H is built on a simple idea: when a lot of people give a little time, meaningful work gets done.

One hour of effort — multiplied across a community — can support land managers, prevent backlogs, and keep trail systems functional while larger processes catch up.

We focus on practical, on-the-ground action that complements existing programs rather than competing with them.

  • Coordinate people & crews
Clarify logistics so volunteers don’t have to guess what to do.

  • Assist land managers
Work where it’s needed, when it’s needed.

  • Build partnerships
Connect clubs, agencies, and volunteers with shared purpose.

We work alongside existing organizations, agencies, and user groups to help fill gaps — especially when timing matters.

Because waiting costs more.

Deferred maintenance compounds quickly. When trails fall behind, the cost to repair them grows — financially, environmentally, and socially.

Early action protects access, improves safety, and keeps public lands usable for everyone.

An hour today really can mean better trails tomorrow.
